This lemon meringue pie was brought into this Monday’s bake sale fresh out of the oven.  It was sold in minutes of arriving.

I used Topaz Topaz ReMask to “cut” the photo out and Adobe Photoshop 6 to add the shadow.

I ran this through Topaz deNoise and thought that it did a really nice job of cleaning up this “poor” photo.  Topaz Adjust Venice Painting further softened the image to give this nostalgic “golden” look.

We had too much candy left over from Halloween.

Cropped and used Auto Enhance Preset in Aperture.  Then used Topaz Simplify – Image Crisp Edge. Then back in Aperture, added Vignette.

There are so many different effects in Topaz that were interesting, but I decided for the theme to stick with the more realistic finishing.  I might use this photo again in the future with a different effect.

Here I am playing with my food again!  I guess I could also say that “B stands for Bacon” or “B stands for Bread”

The fruit truck surprised us with a drive through the park today.  We haven’t seen him in months.  So I bought avocados, oranges, tomatoes and grapefruit.

I hadn’t planned on making any of this part of today’s blog until I saw the 2 entries for the Alphabet Challenge and realized that I had bought an “A.”

For lighting, I used a combination of natural, stove top and overhead fluorescent.  Not a light box but it seems to have worked.

I mostly followed Doris’ instructions on how to make a frame…  Since I used a black frame and the blog currently has a black background, you should enlarge if you really want to see it.

Post processing consisted of cropping, adding vibrancy to the rasberries and removing some of the saturation from the greenery, and added some vignette.  All that was done in Aperture.  I then sent it to PSE to be framed.

These berries were found on “Blueberry Hill.”

Another July theme.  On my first day, my mom and I stopped at Brookdale’s, our favorite farm stand in Hollis, NH after visiting my youngest sister in Townsend, MA.  We decided to have an all fresh farm-picked vegetable dinner.  It was so delicious!  Lucky for me everything is about 2 weeks early this year.  I don’t know how this pic will work for others, but for me there is a certain amount of comfort/nostalgia seeing the dishes so nicely laid out with placements and napkins… and there’s always that one odd dish that doesn’t match.

Dinner a few night’s ago:  Grilled tuna with cucumber and orange salad with Sweet Chili Sauce dressing and garlic naan bread.

My friend Mette gave me her bottle of Maggi Taste of Asia Mild Sweet Chili Sauce before she returned home to Canada for the summer.  It has taken me this long to give it a try.  She had said to put it on rice… apparently I don’t have rice enough to experiment with this… when if I do,  I already have plans for it.  Wanting to try something different with last night’s dinner, I mixed the cucumber slices and oranges together with the sauce and poured it over the grilled Tuna.  I thought it looked so pretty, I had to take a picture. (“Stop playing with the food, Judi!”)

We went to Lake Havasu City yesterday… for a decent bite to eat  and to see a movie.. and the scenic ride to and from.

For lunch, we ate at an outside cafe by the London Bridge, a place we had wanted to try for a bit but our timing was always off.  We both chose this special:  Eggs Benedict Filet.  I was surprised that they served us the pair of muffins and not just a single side.   Continue reading »
